ROXANA- Divers were called in Wednesday night to search
for what was believed to be a truck submerged in a farm
pond and to determine whether it was occupied, authorities
said. The search was being conducted on the Losch Farm in
the 4200 block of Hedge Road in rural Roxana.
John Losch told authorities he was mowing around a pond
behind the farms greenhouse Wednesday evening when
he discovered tire tracks leading into the pond. The Roxana
Fire Department notified the Alton Volunteer Emergency Corps
about a possible vehicle in the water about 7:15 p.m., said
Anthony Jennings, AVECS deputy commander.
Member of AVEC and the Twin Rivers Search and Rescue group
placed a Nova Ray submersible in the water and said it detected
a truck beneath the surface about 15 feet from the ponds
shore.
At that point, authorities called in divers to conduct a further
search about 9 p.m. As of press time, searchers said they
had no indication whether the submerged vehicle was occupied.
