RAY WINGED ROV
|
The winged Nova Ray is a compact, lightweight inspection
class Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) designed
to operate in strong currents and harsh environments.
The patented arcuate (bow-shaped) wing provides stability
and maneuverability for mission critical underwater projects.
Its proven wing design, proprietary technology and convenient
modularity deliver effective survey, inspection and protection
of critical infrastructures. Coral Partners, LLC. delivers a
multi-function platform on all portable ROV models. The
winged unit can also be towed (UTV) up to nine knots as
a forward looking or side scan sonar system for large
area search sweeps. Upon locating a target, the operator
can 'fly' the unit (ROV) using its own thruster power
for close up target ID and inspection with the video cameras.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA), with support
from the Office of Naval Research
(ONR) is conducting a week-long
expedition off Cape Hatteras, N.C.,
searching for the U.S. Navy’s
first submarine “Alligator,”
which was lost during a fierce
storm in 1863. |
|
Mission
tasks include wide-area search and sweeps, ship
hull inspections, reconnaissance missions, cable
and pipeline survey, baseline and repetitive
imaging and minefield surveys. Surveillance
applications include underwater inspections
of piers, wharves, docks, and vessels for explosives.
The readily transportable unit is an ideal platform
for marine scientific and environmental surveys,
disaster forensics and salvage and recovery
support. Nova Ray is the only ROV that can
operate effectively when towed up to nine-knots,
or under its own thruster power up to six-knots.

WINGED ROV - UNDERWATER STABILITY IN CURRENTS WITH LESS
CABLE DRAG
The
patented arcuate wing provides true axis flight and
maneuverability in strong currents, cross currents and
tides. The wing design allows the vehicle to work with
the current - not against it. It neutralizes the effect
of cable drag. This provides for deeper operation with
less cable than that used by other ROVs / UTVs. The
stable, versatile performance of the Nova Ray makes
it capable of station keeping from two-knots up to six-knots.
|
Open
architecture allows for easy integration
of, or configuration for, user defined add-on
devices. Its modular design and fully digital
operating system adapt to meet mission critical
requirements (such as sonar, additional
cameras, imaging and tracking and recording).
It also has the ability to remove the wings
and convert to a conventional ROV for confined
spaces and pinpoint inspection
applications. The vehicle, depth rated to
1,000ft (300m), is easily deployed by a
two-person team. It has been successfully
employed in coastal waterways, oceans, lakes
and rivers. Removing the Nova Ray patented
wings converts it to a conventional ROV
for use in projects with space limitations.
Customers essentially get two operationally
different ROVs with both cost savings and
increased profitability opportunities.
Includes thrusters, flotation frame assembly
and light brackets. |
Patented
channel and nut trail system allows
for easy add-on of user-defined devices such as
imaging, sonar, tracking system and grabber.
ERGONOMIC AND INTUITIVE REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLE DESIGN
ROV
ergonomic characteristics include convenient built-in
handle grips on each wing for easy vehicle lifting,
quick access to electronics for maintenance, and a vehicle
color easily viewed from the surface or by divers. The
control console includes ergonomic controls and displays
that reduce eye and hand fatigue.
Continuous
operating fatigue is reduced with built-in auto pilot
modes: heading hold, wings level and depth hold. The
vehicle's intuitive operational design allows the operator
to quickly gain piloting proficiency. All controls are
intuitively labeled and displayed. An aeronautical-style
display is easily interpreted to show pitch and roll,
and elevon, rudder and thruster direction and magnitude.
All
Nova Ray models include the integrated Control Console
packaged in a compact Pelican case. Operators can quickly
master the 4-axis joystick and controls for responsiveness
and maneuverability. Monitoring underwater activity
from the camera, sonar and other data gathering devices,
as well as the vehicle's performance, are easily achieved
from the laptop computer and 10" flat panel LCD monitor.
The Command and Control System operates from user friendly,
Windows™-based proprietary software. Compact and
weighing less than 50 lbs, the wheeled case meets current
airline carry-on standards. Outside case dimensions:
22"L x 17-1/4"W x 8-5/8"D.
The
Nova Ray transports in cases with telescoping handles
and wheels. It ships as commercial airline luggage,
which reduces transportation time and cost.

Model
3500 This
robust model offers comprehensive imaging
and tracking capabilities, and user applications.
It includes high resolution sonar,
both side scan and forward scan.
The forward scan sonar includes flexible
capabilities to meet specific project
needs, which include: set to 360 degree
continuous rotation, set to sector which
is 180 degrees, or set the sector size
in 3 degree increments. The Nova+ skids
provide for extra payload, as well as
three different configurations. The basic
configuration is for full range imaging.
Removal of the forward scan sonar system
allows for two additional configurations:
Side scan and internal camera imaging,
or removal of all sonar for basic inspections
and surveys. Like all Nova Ray ROVs,
this model can accommodate user defined
add-on technology. Mission critical inspection
and tracking projects will stay on course
with this portable workhorse. |

OPTIONS
FOR ALL MODELS INCLUDE:
Altimeter
Add an altimeter for altitude data and
a fourth auto pilot mode. The altimeter
measures altitude of structures and objects,
range to other structures and objects, and
monitors sedimentation or scouring.
Articulating
Arms
Also referred to as manipulators, articulating
arms are available using customer specified
devices or Nova Ray electric manipulators.
Circuit
Board
Reduce potential down time in the field
with an easy-to-install back-up circuit
board. Meanwhile, send the original circuit
board, at lower cost than shipping the entire
ROV, back to the factory for repair.
External
Camera
An external camera comes standard with
Models 3000 and 3500, but can be add-on
to other models.
Fiber
Optic Umbilical
Convert to fiber optic cable for enhanced
communications capabilities with smaller
diameter umbilical.
Navigation
and Tracking
Advanced technology, map-based navigation
and tracking solutions are easily integrated
to meet user applications.
TAPP(+)
Kit (Tools and Parts Plus Kit)
Tools and parts for basic maintenance
and repairs in the field are conveniently
packaged into the TAPP (+) Kit. While the
Nova Ray undergoes rigorous Quality Assurance
testing, breakdowns can occur on any project
site. That’s one of the reason why
the Nova Ray is modular in design. If a
part breaks, fix or replace it onsite and
get back to work. Return the part to the
factory later. The kit includes the Basic
TAPS kit items and one each of the following:
light, complete circuit board, thruster,
actuator and skid. Help keep your project
on schedule with the TAPP (+) kit.
Thrusters
Beef up thruster power with two, hp
thrusters for projects requiring more power.
Vertical
Thrusters
While the Nova Ray is highly maneuverable,
some projects may desire the addition of
vertical movement in a confined survey space
(ie, port pilings). Nova Ray offers its
vertical thrusters. Or take off the standard
wings and quickly convert to the Conversion
Kit.
Sensors
User-defined sensors include chemical
, biological and radiation detection. All
ROVs are hydrophone ready.
Inspection
Software
Inspection Manager Enterprise software,
from NetLink Inspection Systems, provides
a powerful tool capable of life-cycle management
for the inspection requirements of company
assets (ship hull surveys, offshore platforms,
subsea pipelines). NetLink, a provider of
software and related services, addresses
the need for computerized subsea inspection
data acquisition. User defined software
can also be integrated.
